Ralph Johnson, Founding Father of Harris Paints, Passes Away at Age 80

It is with tremendous sorrow that we must inform our customers and friends in Barbados, the Caribbean and beyond, that Ralph "Bruggadung" Johnson, Chairman Emeritus of Harris Paints International, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. He was 80 years old. One of the founders of Harris Paints and the well-recognized face of the company for many years, Ralph became so synonymous with the brand that strangers would mistakenly call him "Mr. Harris" and he never minded one bit. A colourful character, Ralph's," popularity stemmed from the fact that although he was a successful businessman, he remained very approachable and down to earth with a strong belief in helping others. In many ways, he was the personification of "the Little Man." After making Harris Paints a household name, Ralph stepped down in 2009, even in retirement, he maintained an active role in the growth of the company as Chairman and later, as Chairman Emeritus. A champion, a mentor and an inspiration to the entire Harris Paints and BH team, our organization will be forever grateful for his immense contribution to our company and to the community. We will miss him greatly and will continue to honour his legacy. Please join us in keeping Ralph and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
